How much does a Shopify redesign cost in the UK?

By Aman Yadav, Founder of Shraen · Updated

Short answer

The cost of a Shopify redesign depends on how many templates change, how much custom functionality is needed, and whether content and photography are ready. A single journey, such as the product page, can be redesigned as a small fixed-price project. At Shraen, focused Sprints start from £500 and full redesigns are quoted at a fixed scope.

What drives the price

Most of the cost comes from a handful of decisions. Knowing them up front makes quotes easier to compare.

  • Number of templates: home, collection, product, cart, landing pages and content pages each take design and build time.
  • Custom features: bundles, subscriptions, product finders and custom filters cost more than standard sections.
  • Theme choice: adapting a well-built Online Store 2.0 theme is quicker than building a custom theme from scratch.
  • Content: if copy and photography need creating, that adds time or a separate supplier.
  • Apps and integrations: replacing apps with native theme code, or connecting stock and fulfilment systems, adds scope.
  • Migration: moving from another platform to Shopify adds data, redirects and testing.

Freelancer, agency or studio?

Freelancers are usually the lowest cost and can be excellent, but capacity and design depth vary. Agencies bring larger teams and process, which suits big projects, but you pay for account management and hand-offs.

A founder-led studio sits between the two: the person who scopes the work designs and builds it, so there is no hand-off, with clear fixed pricing.

How to keep the cost down

Start with the journey that loses the most customers instead of redesigning everything. Use your existing theme if it is Online Store 2.0 and well built. Have your content ready. Ask for a fixed price against a written scope, so the budget cannot drift.

How Shraen prices work

Work starts with a Sprint: one focused piece of work, scoped up front at a fixed price from £500, shipped in one to two weeks, paid 50% upfront and 50% on delivery. Larger redesigns are quoted at a fixed scope after a free 15-minute call.

We'll tell you honestly what to fix first, whether it's a one to two week Sprint or a bigger project.

Questions, answered.

Anything else, ask on the call.

Is a fixed price better than an hourly rate?

For a redesign, usually yes. A fixed price against a written scope means you know the total before work starts, and changes are agreed explicitly instead of appearing on an invoice.

Do I pay for the Shopify theme separately?

If the redesign uses a paid theme from the Shopify Theme Store, the licence is a one-off cost paid to the theme developer. A custom theme has no licence fee.

Can a UK brand work with a studio in India?

Yes. Shraen is based in Bengaluru and works with UK brands remotely. The working day overlaps UK mornings for calls and reviews, and pricing is in pounds.

How long does a Shopify redesign take?

A single journey can ship in one to two weeks. A full redesign is planned in stages over several weeks, with each stage shipped as it is ready.
