When a template stops being enough.
Most businesses start on a template or a website builder, and for a while that is the right call. Then the site has to do more: show a real catalogue, take enquiries properly, load fast on a phone, rank for the searches that matter, connect to the tools the business already uses.
That is usually where templates start to fight back. Every new page is a workaround, plugins slow everything down, and the design drifts further from what the business actually is. Fixing one thing breaks another.
Next.js is what we use when a site needs to be fast, flexible and built to last. Pages are rendered ahead of time or on the server, so they load quickly and are easy for search engines to read, and everything is custom, so the site does exactly what you need and nothing you do not.
- Your site is slow on a phone
- Simple changes need a workaround or another plugin
- The template no longer fits how you sell
- Pages you need do not rank in Google
- You are paying for tools the site barely uses
How we build it.
The same person scopes, designs and builds, so nothing gets lost between a designer, a developer and an account manager.
- 01
Start with what customers do
We map the few journeys that matter most, such as finding a product, comparing options or sending an enquiry, and design the site around them, mobile first.
- 02
Fast by default
Pages are pre-rendered where possible, images are served at the right size, and JavaScript is kept to what each page needs. shraen.com is built the same way.
- 03
Easy for Google to read
Clean page titles and descriptions, structured data, a sitemap and server-rendered content are built in from the start, not added after launch.
- 04
Built to change
Components and content are organised so new pages and sections are quick to add, whether content lives in the code, a CMS or an existing system.
- 05
Real work, not mock-ups
Kharbuj, a storefront for a seed brand selling to farmers across India, and RealAura, a property platform, are both built in Next.js and React.
The offer: start with a Sprint.
A Sprint is one focused piece of work, scoped up front at a fixed price from £500 and shipped in one to two weeks, paid 50% upfront and 50% on delivery. That might be a new landing page, a rebuilt product or listing page, or the first version of a small site. Larger builds are scoped as projects after a short call.
- Scope and fixed price agreed up front
- Mobile-first design
- Built in Next.js and React
- Deployed and live
- Short handover note
Questions, answered.
Anything else, ask on the call.
Why Next.js instead of WordPress or a website builder?
Next.js suits sites that need to be fast, custom or built to grow: pages load quickly, search engines read them easily, and there are no plugin conflicts. For a simple brochure site a builder can be fine, and we will say so on the call.
Can you work with businesses in India as well as the UK?
Yes. Shraen is based in Bengaluru and works with businesses in both. Calls overlap UK mornings, and the working day overlaps fully with India.
Will I be able to update the site myself?
Yes, where it makes sense. Content can be managed through a CMS, or kept in simple files for sites that rarely change. We agree this during scoping.
Where is the site hosted?
Usually on Vercel, which is built for Next.js, or on your own hosting if you prefer. You own the code and the accounts.
